DESSERT RECIPE:
Almond Shortbread Bars

1-cup butter, softened
½-cup almond paste
2/3-cup granulated sugar
½-tsp salt
½-tsp almond extract
3-cups all-purpose flour
¾-cup sliced almonds
Almond Shortbread bars

Line a 13x9” metal cake pan with parchment paper; set aside
To make beating the almond paste easier, microwave on low just enough to warm
Don’t let it get hot or it will melt the butter when added
In a bowl, beat butter with almond paste until smooth
Beat in sugar, salt and almond extract until fluffy
Using a wooden spoon, stir in flour until combined
Press into pan
Sprinkle with almonds and press lightly into the dough
Bake in middle of 300*F oven until light golden, about 50 minutes (no longer)
Let cool completely in pan on wire rack
