Chocolate Brownies
4 oz. Unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
4 oz. Semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
1-cup butter
4-eggs
2-cups sugar
2-tsp vanilla
1-cup flour
½-tsp salt
2-Caramilk bars, chopped
In double boiler over hot, not boiling water, melt chocolates until softened
Let cool
In a bowl, cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Stir in vanilla
Stir together; flour & salt
Blend into butter mixture
Stir in chocolate
Stir in Caramilk into batter * See alternative below
Pour into greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish, or a 10" spring form pan to make a cake
Bake @ 350* for 35 minutes (45-50 for cake) until tester inserted comes out slightly moist
Let cool on rack
(For fudgier version, decrease flour to ¾-cup)
Top with icing
Icing
Combine: 3-tbsp margarine, softened
1 1/3-cup icing sugar
1/3-cup cocoa
1 1/2-tbsp hot coffee
* Instead of adding Caramilk;
1-pkg cream cheese, softened (250g)
¼-cup sugar
1-egg
½-cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Beat cream cheese and sugar until fluffy
Blend in egg
Spoon cheese mix over top of batter in pan
Marble by pulling knife through the batter
Sprinkle with chocolate chips
Bake as above
Top with icing
