DESSERT RECIPE:
Judy’s Blue Ribbon Banana Cake

¾-cup shortening
1 ½-cup sugar
2-eggs
1-cup mashed bananas
½-cup buttermilk
1-tsp soda
2-cups cake flour
1-tsp baking powder
1-tsp vanilla
½-cup chopped pecans
1-cup coconut


Cream sugar, shortening and eggs
Add bananas and buttermilk
Mix flour, salt, baking powder, soda slowly and beat well.
Add nuts and vanilla
Pour into two 9 inch pans
Sprinkle coconut on top of batter
Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes

Filling:
½-cup sugar
2-tbsp flour
½-cup cream
